His Excellency Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri, CEO of the Sharjah Book Authority, has played a significant role in establishing a global presence for SBA through its initiatives and programmes designed to boost the Arab book industry while also helping preserve Arab culture and language. Since its inception in 2014, HE Ahmed bin Rakkad Al Ameri has been at the helm of SBA – the entity that hosts the annual Sharjah International Book Fair (SIBF) and Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival (SCRF). SBA’s flagship initiative, the Sharjah Publishing City Free Zone (SPC Free Zone) is the world’s first-of-its-kind free zone dedicated to offer a complete ecosystem for businesses in the publishing and printing industries. The Sharjah Library and several other cultural initiatives also operate under the SBA.
Previously Head of Finance and Administrative Affairs at the Department of Culture and Information in Sharjah, a post he held for over 10 years, Al Ameri’s ambitions for the SBA and its high-profile events continue to grow. In addition to his career in news, Anderson has worked with the United Nations, on a diplomatic posting to Rome. Juergen Boos trained as a publisher at Herder Verlag (Freiburg) in the early 1980s and has degrees in both Marketing and Organizational Theory. He has held management positions at Droemer Knaur Verlag (Munich), Carl Hanser Verlag (Munich), as well as Springer Science and Business Media (today Springer Science) and John Wiley & Sons (Weinheim). He became President and CEO of the Frankfurter Buchmesse GmbH (Frankfurt Book Fair) in 2005 and is President of LITPROM (Society for the Promotion of African, Asian and Latin American Literature) and Managing Director of LitCam (Frankfurter Buchmesse Literacy Campaign).

David Shelley, previously based in the UK, started his career at independent publisher Allison & Busby in 1997 before joining Little, Brown as Editorial Director in 2005. Initially commissioning mainly crime and thriller novels and overseeing the audio and ebook lists, he became Publisher of their commercial imprint Sphere in 2007, then overall Little, Brown Publisher in 2011. Authors Shelley published include Mitch Albom, Mark Billingham, Carl Hiaasen, Dennis Lehane, Val McDermid, and J.K. Rowling. He became Chief Executive Officer of Orion and Little, Brown in 2015, and in January 2018 became Group Chief Executive Officer of Hachette UK, which is the second-largest consumer publisher in the UK.
