2022 NYU MSPW Convocation Award Recipients

Evan Schuval

Professional Writing Impact Award

The Professional Writing Impact Award is presented to a graduating student in the MS in Professional Writing program who has demonstrated a commitment to writing and communication endeavors that seek to impact society in positive ways. As the 2022 awardee, Evan Schuval has combined his prior experience in the entertainment industry with a commitment to social justice and communication. In the past year, Evan served as the Graduate Chair for the Inclusion, Diversity, Belonging, Equity, and Accessibility (IDBEA) Committee at NYU School of Professional Studies. His work with IDBEA is just one example of his drive to create positive change. After graduation, Evan plans to attend law school, where he aspires to use his professional writing skills to one day become an unwavering voice of advocacy for his clients and all people. Prior to this degree, Evan received his BA in English, Entrepreneurship, and Innovation from Pennsylvania State University.

Felicia Selvakumar

Flag Bearer: Professional Writing

Felicia Selvakumar was selected as Flag Bearer for the MS in Professional Writing in recognition of her outstanding academic performance and active participation as a student of this program. Specializing in content creation and strategy, Felicia has worked as a copywriter for X2 Analytics, a software company, crafting compelling marketing copy and writing insightful editorial content. She also used her time in the MS in Professional Writing program to build a freelance portfolio. Felicia has written content for online publications such as Jerry, BagBirdy, and the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy. Prior to this degree, Felicia received her BA in Philosophy from The College of New Jersey. She currently works as a recruiting coordinator at Kaplan Hecker & Fink LLP.
