OWLS is a joint effort led by students from the MS in Professional Writing (MSPW) and MS in Translation and Interpreting (MSTI) programs. OWLS brings together a lively community of graduate students interested in how communication happens today: on digital platforms and across cultures. As a fully online student-run club, their goal is to have an offline impact and meaningful conversations among NYU SPS peers. Meet the OWLS officers!

Introducing the Online Writing & Languages Society (OWLS)
President Ben Delfs
Ben is a second semester student in the MS in Translation and Interpreting. Born in Boston, raised in New Jersey, living in New York, with some years working in Japan in between.
“Honored to be the inaugural president of the OWL Society, and looking forward to seeing you at our events!”
Vice President Brianne Grant
Brianne is a second semester student in the MS in Professional Writing program from Florida. She is currently a government media relations officer working on vaccination communication efforts.
“I’m looking forward to learning more about translations, interpretation, and of course communication tools for writers, readers, and the digital world.”
Graduate Student Council Representative Hannah Josephson
Hannah is a second semester MS in Translation and Interpreting student from the D.C. area. In 2020, she graduated Cum Laude with majors in Political Science and French and a minor in History from Louisiana Tech University.
“My ultimate goal is to combine my passion for international affairs and translation by working in either the public sector or civil society.”
