Katherine Newhouse, EdD, receives NYUSPS 2021 Teaching Excellence Award

Congratulations to Dr. Katherine Newhouse, Adjunct Instructor for the MS in Professional Writing (MSPW) program, on receiving the NYU School of Professional Studies 2021 Teaching Excellence Award. This Award recognizes faculty members for their exceptional dedication to student engagement and innovative pedagogy. Fully online since 2013, the MSPW program offers an applied, workshop-model curriculum that prepares students to craft strategic copy and shape important stories for target audiences across industries.

Among MSPW students, Dr. Newhouse is known for being challenging, caring, and supportive. As one of her former student’s states, “Her belief in our capabilities as students makes us want to rise to her expectations. And her warm and supportive manner makes it easier to step into unfamiliar territory and spread our academic wings. Under her tutelage, I've written pieces I never before thought I could.”

Within the MSPW, Dr. Newhouse has taught the following elective and core course: Writing for Social Science Research, Principles of Professional Writing, and Portfolio/Thesis Requirement.

Dr. Newhouse and other NYU SPS faculty awardees will be recognized during a virtual award ceremony on the evening of Monday, April 12. Teaching Excellence Awards are presented to faculty members who challenge, inspire, and support students with an unwavering commitment to educating the industry practitioners and leaders of tomorrow.

Join us in congratulating Dr. Newhouse on this well-deserved honor!
