Inclusion and Belonging in Hospitality & Tourism: Towards a More Inclusive Welcome

The pandemic has catalyzed significant shifts in the hospitality and tourism industries, emphasizing the importance of belonging and inclusion as central to the guest experience. This course examines the unique needs and concerns of diverse traveler groups, including LGBTQ+, Black, Asian, solo women travelers, travelers with disabilities, and others. Students will gain a deeper understanding of how to deliver on the promise of an inclusive welcome, a theme increasingly reflected in global marketing strategies. Through expert guest speakers, case studies, and interactive discussions, students will explore real-world examples and best practices from the industry. They will learn how to engage authentically with diverse customers and key stakeholders to enhance guest experiences, build long-term brand loyalty, and contribute to the sustainable growth of businesses within the hospitality and tourism ecosystem. The course empowers future leaders to create culturally relevant, accessible, and personalized travel experiences for all.
