Oonagh Stransky’s literary translations from the Italian include works by Eugenio Montale, Domenico Starnone, Erminia Dell’Oro, Carlo Lucarelli, and Giuseppe Pontiggia. She has also translated non-fiction by Roberto Saviano, Pope Francis, Pier Paolo Pasolini, and Cecilia Sala. Her translation of Starnone’s The House on Via Gemito was longlisted for the International Booker Prize, and her translation of his short stories have appeared in The New Yorker, The Paris Review, and The Atlantic. Oonagh has a Bachelor’s degree in Comparative Literature from Mills College and UC Berkeley, a Master’s degree in Italian from Columbia University, and a Master’s in Education from Pace University. She has taught translation at Middlebury College Summer School and is an active member of PEN and ALTA.
