Wenjie Sun joins Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality in Spring 2026 to teach Data Analytics for Hospitality and Travel. As an alumnus of the program, he brings a unique blend of deep academic grounding and high-level industry expertise to the classroom.
Wenjie currently serves as a Senior Data Scientist at Google DeepMind, where he works on improving the product experience of Gemini. His tenure at Google has spanned several critical domains, including technical roles within the Ads Safety and Hotel Ads product teams. This experience at the forefront of artificial intelligence and machine learning allows him to provide students with contemporary insights into how large-scale data systems drive global platforms.
Before joining Google, Wenjie spent much of his career navigating the intersection of digital marketing and analytics within the travel sector. He held pivotal roles at major industry players, including Priceline.com and Accor Hotel Group, where he developed data-driven strategies to optimize customer acquisition and brand loyalty in a highly competitive digital landscape.
Wenjie’s academic journey is rooted in the very disciplines he now teaches. He holds a dual-master’s foundation, having earned his M.S. in Hospitality Industry Studies from this program at SPS, as well as an M.S. in Data Science also from NYU. He also holds an undergraduate degree in Tourism Management.
By bridging the gap between traditional hospitality management and cutting-edge data science, Wenjie is dedicated to helping the next generation of industry leaders harness the power of analytics to solve complex challenges in the travel and tourism sectors.
