Brian Robert Moore is a writer and literary translator working from the Italian. For his translation of Michele Mari’s novel Verdigris he won the 2025 PEN Translation Prize and the ALTA 2025 Italian Prose in Translation Award. His translations of Mari’s short fiction, which were published in the collection You, Bleeding Childhood, have received honors such as the O. Henry Prize and a PEN Translates award. He is also the translator of Lalla Romano’s In Farthest Seas and A Silence Shared, which was runner-up for the 2024 John Florio Prize and shortlisted for the 2023 Warwick Prize for Women in Translation. His translations and his essays have appeared in The New Yorker, Granta, The Nation, n+1, Lit Hub, The Millions and elsewhere. For his translation of Walter Siti’s Paradise Overload, which is forthcoming from Archipelago Books, he received a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
