Abdelgabar Mohieldin retired as a Verbatim Reporter and Translator from the Department of the General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM/ UNHQ) in New York. He has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who Top Executives for dedication, achievements, and leadership in communications.
With decades-long experience to his credit, Mr. Mohieldin has served as a verbatim reporter and translator for The UN Security Council, the UN General Assembly and their affiliate bodies since 2010 until his retirement in August 2023. He also served as a United Nations Language trainer. Prior to this appointment, he served as a lecturer in translation at the University of Khartoum in Sudan and other leading national universities. He previously worked as a senior editor and journalist back in Sudan.
Mr. Mohieldin holds a Master’s of letters in translation, a graduate diploma in translation preceded by a double BA major in Journalism and Drama. Mr. Mohieldin rejoined the United Nations language service on part-time basis from 2024 and is currently on the faculty of the Master's in Translation and Interpreting at NYU.
Currently, he pursues his doctoral studies in the intersections between culture, cross-cultural translation, conflict resolution and peacebuilding.
