Shizuka Otake is an interpreter, translator, non-practicing lawyer, and writer. Born in New York to Japanese parents, she lived in Tokyo after graduating from law school and worked in a Japanese firm. If a genie granted her a wish, she would have a magic door between those two cities. ATA-certified for Japanese-to-English translation and court-certified in New York, she works primarily as an interpreter. Her work spans law, finance, market research, and Japanese culture. In 2021, Shizuka translated “Studio Ghibli: The Complete Works.” She writes mystery fiction, draws, and travels for fun. She lives in New York City.
