Dr. Negar Farakish is Senior Assistant Dean of the Division of Programs in Business and Clinical Professor at the NYU School of Professional Studies. In this role, she provides senior leadership across the division, partnering with academic leaders on strategy, organizational development, and divisional priorities. She oversees the Publishing and Writing and Language Professions portfolios and coordinates academic operations across credit and continuing education programs, including course planning, faculty assignments, advising, and academic services. Her career in higher education spans a range of academic and administrative leadership roles such as Assistant Dean, Executive Director of Academic Affairs, Academic Director, Dean of Honors, Campus Provost, and Associate Vice President for Academic Affairs.
Recognized for her ability to translate vision into meaningful institutional impact, Dr. Farakish has received several honors for her teaching, service, and leadership, including the NYU SPS Teaching Excellence Award (2023), the NYU SPS Outstanding Service Award (2019), and the Chair Academy’s International Exemplary Leadership Award (2015).
Dr. Farakish’s scholarship focuses on teaching and learning, faculty development, and academic innovation. Her academic contributions are evidenced by her numerous presentations at national conferences, co-authorship of two textbooks, and ongoing research and publications on topics such as exemplary faculty, honors students’ experience, public-private partnerships, and faculty onboarding and professional development. She is a Google Higher Ed AI Faculty Fellow and a Faculty Affiliate of the NYU Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL). Her current research focuses on the use of GenAI in teaching and learning, particularly in curriculum design, faculty development, and student engagement.
Dr. Farakish holds an Ed.D. in Higher and Postsecondary Education from Teachers College, Columbia University; an Ed.S. in English Education; an M.A. in TESOL; and a B.A. in English Translation. She is also a certified Project Management Professional (PMP).
