After holding executive positions in global organizations as diverse as L’Oreal, Reckitt, and Colgate-Palmolive, Marc Somnolet’s current passion is to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with today’s rising generation of marketing innovators as an instructor in the Executive Master’s in Marketing and Strategic Communications program at NYU SPS.

Transitioning to academia as a way to continue forming tomorrow’s talent and giving back was a natural and extremely rewarding move."
The Power of the Pitch

In his classes, Somnolet teaches marketing and strategic skills as well as critical thinking. He empowers his students to pitch ideas and concepts with confidence. “The best learning experiences in class are around class exercises, team projects, and individual pitches,” says Somnolet.

Though the way people work and interact constantly changes, he believes “the fundamentals of marketing and communications will not change. Technology will not change human creativity, outside-the-box thinking, and the unique human capacity to connect the dots.” That’s why he prioritizes building his students’ skills alongside their confidence and creativity.

Somnolet describes his role in the executive master’s program as “by far the most rewarding” he has ever had. “I love interacting with tomorrow’s leaders!” he shares excitedly, “I am thrilled to give back by sharing my experience and expertise. I am equally thrilled to continue to learn by keeping up on trends, new skills and tools, but, more importantly, from my students' experiences and inspirations.”

Somnolet believes that the Executive Master’s in Marketing & Strategic Communications can play an integral role in a student’s professional life, stating, “If you feel that you want to expand your professional and personal horizons, continue to learn, hone your skills, better yourself, pursue new dreams and aspirations, this program will facilitate it all.”
