<p>Boris Keivsky was born in Soviet Ukraine and raised in Brooklyn, tracing his programming expertise back to when he was just 10 years old. He later studied computer science at Carnegie Mellon before making a complete pivot to theater. After earning a BFA from FIU and training in London, he pursued acting in New York and Los Angeles. But it was his passion for storytelling and technology that ultimately shaped his career. “I figured out how to combine my passion for connecting with audiences through storytelling, with my love of technology to help nonprofits accelerate their missions online,” he explains.</p>
<p><span class="p-body">Keivsky’s journey to NYU SPS began in the Heyman Program, where he taught web development for nonprofits before expanding into digital storytelling. When an opportunity arose to teach in the <a href="/content/sps-nyu/certificates/communications-and-ai-accelerated.html" title="Communications and AI Accelerated program" target="_blank">Communications and AI Accelerated program</a>, it felt like a natural fit.</span></p>
Empowering Students to Lead in AI-driven Communications
<p>AI is transforming the communications industry, reshaping how organizations engage with audiences. Keivsky’s course helps students harness AI to enhance messaging, streamline content creation, and drive engagement. “What used to take several people days to do can now be done by one individual in a matter of hours, and often with greater accuracy,” he notes. His curriculum blends the fundamentals of storytelling and AI with hands-on practice in generating text, graphics, audio, and video content.</p>
<p>A key aspect of the course is its focus on personalization and connection. “One of the major challenges in communications today is creating genuine connection,” Keivsky explains. Early in the program, students develop avatar personas to simulate customized outreach. “Comms teams often don’t have the bandwidth to create personalized messaging for multiple audiences, but with AI, they can now produce as many variations as needed in a short time.”</p>
Future Forward
<p>Keivsky’s course is about learning AI and how to use it strategically. His students leave with not only technical expertise but also a strategic mindset that enables them to lead AI-driven transformations in their organizations.</p>
