<p><span class="p-body">With over 40 years in information technology and 25 years teaching at NYU SPS, Samuel Sultan brings a wealth of industry experience to the classroom. His career has spanned from junior developer to director-level business and technical architect, leading large-scale solutions for major organizations. His passion for both technology and teaching has shaped the academic lives of thousands of students, helping them build careers in software development, full-stack web development, and data analytics.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Before joining NYU SPS as a faculty member, Sultan was a student in the late 90s. After excelling in a Web Development intensive, he was invited to be a teaching assistant and eventually took over lectures for part of the course.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">For Sultan, success in tech starts with passion. He believes students should never limit themselves to a single subject but instead gain expertise across multiple disciplines to be competitive in the job market. His courses at NYU SPS strike a balance between high-level concepts and hands-on applications. That way, students gain practical experience they can use immediately in their careers.</span></p>

He describes Python as “the most successful and versatile programming language”, critical for software development, system administration, and data analytics. Web development is also booming, with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript essential for building user-friendly applications that drive business success.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Through real-world projects, students develop applications that integrate front-end and back-end technologies—from book-ordering systems to course registration platforms. These projects not only reinforce learning but also provide a portfolio that showcases technical skills to potential employers.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Sultan’s philosophy is simple: knowledge is power. “The more skills a student has, the more career opportunities they will encounter,” he says.
