Here at the NYU School of Professional Studies, students are often reminded that the world is their oyster—a notion Lauren Greenberg took to heart as she scripted her path to success in the competitive world of comedy and entertainment. As a BA in Humanities graduate, Greenberg began her career like many of our students: hopeful and ambitious. From aspiring writer to Emmy Award-winning producer and head writer, we're proud to be part of Greenberg's story.

A Star in the Making

Hailing from the San Francisco Bay Area, Greenberg's passion for writing and performing found a nurturing home in the heart of New York City at NYU SPS. Here, she honed her craft in creative writing, laying the foundation for a career that would see her become an influential voice in television comedy.

Post-graduation, Greenberg's determination saw her juggling office jobs while dedicating every spare moment to writing spec scripts, original pilots, and joke packets—pursuing a dream that would eventually come true in 2012 when she landed a writing role on a late-night talk show hosted by comedian, Whitney Cummings.

The Road to an Emmy Win

Greenberg's ascent in the world of comedy was meteoric. From writing for Whitney Cummings to becoming one of the original creative forces behind The Late Late Show with James Corden, her sharp wit and innovative storytelling shaped the show as we know it. As the head writer, Greenberg has been the brain behind some of the show's signature segments, including the iconic Carpool Karaoke.

It was for her work on Carpool Karaoke: When Corden Met McCartney Live From Liverpool that Lauren and her team were honored with the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Pre-Recorded), a proud moment for both her and NYU SPS.

Beyond the Laughter

Outside the whirlwind of late-night television, Greenberg has lent her talents to a variety of high-profile projects, including writing for President Biden, the Tony Awards, The Grammy Awards, Adele: One Night Only, and a promotional sketch for the film The Night Before, in which Seth Rogen joined the cast of Vanderpump Rules.

Her versatility and ability to connect with audiences across different platforms highlight the broad spectrum of opportunities available to NYU SPS graduates. With The Late Late Show coming to an end, Greenberg looks forward to new challenges and opportunities to shake up the industry even more.

Greenberg's story is not only inspirational but also reaffirms NYU SPS's commitment to guiding students to thrive in the real world. Ready to take your place at the center of everything?
