From SPS to the Nonprofit Sector

After completing an BFA in Journalism and Literature, Emily Peacock was drawn to the MS in Global Affairs at CGA. Passionate about reproductive, gender, and LGBTQ+ rights, she knew the program would serve her in her role as an advocate.

Peacock currently works for Upstream USA, a nonprofit organization focused on contraceptive care. At Upstream USA, she supports the CEO and development/external affairs team with scheduling, compiling information and research, logging information and data in SalesForce, tracking external meetings and priorities, as well as “fundraising and fostering connections with partners and governments.”

While at CGA, Peacock traveled to the UAE with Sylvia Maier for a Global Field Intensive to study women’s empowerment in a non-democratic state, an experience that broadened her knowledge and prepared her for her current position.

I am committed to fostering equity and elevating diverse perspectives."

Peacock considers her time at CGA as integral to work today. “The CGA not only fed my passion for advocating for reproductive rights, but also helped me hone my research, organizational, communication, and leadership skills." She is proud to be a member of the “amazing, smart, creative community” of SPS alums, and continues to apply the knowledge and skills she gained at SPS to her advocacy.
