The Community at the Core of CGA

MS in Global Affairs alum Sameen Zehra was drawn to the program because of its "supportive and inspiring community of people working in diverse ways to tackle some of the most complex global issues.” Not only did Zehra find this community, she was also able to knowledge, new perspectives, and hand-on experiences.

I have continued to reach out to my CGA professors since graduating and gain advice from the friends I made in the program."
Working with Peacebuilders Around the Globe

Now working for Strong Cities Network on their Young Cities program, Zehra works to support young people worldwide, recently in Pakistan and Belgium, to “build their project management and leadership skills and fund their community initiatives for social action.” She facilitates workshops and webinars, works with youth activists and peacebuilders, develops training resources, and manages partnerships and grants with local partners.

“I also support Strong Cities’ work on fostering collaboration between local and national government and civil society actors to address challenges related to hate, extremism and polarisation”, she shares.

“My time at CGA was critical in preparing me for the career path I’m on now. It gave me exposure to professors, peers and resources that were dedicated to finding practical solutions to complex global challenges. Being a part of this highly supportive network and environment motivated me to find my own unique path in the field of global affairs and encouraged me to be an innovative, interdisciplinary and self-aware thinker outside of the classroom.”
