After earning her degree in English Literature and paving a career path in journalism and global news translation for Chung T'ien Television in Taipei, Taiwan, Claire Tsai wanted to convey her own stories rather than other people’s. Coming from the world of journalism to public relations meant adopting new perspectives. The MS in Public Relations & Corporate Communication (PRCC) allowed Tsai to do just that. “My experience in the PRCC program has been transformative,” says Tsai. “Each course challenges me to think strategically, communicate with purpose, and grow as a leader.”

“What truly sets PRCC apart is its emphasis on both strategy and execution,” she adds. “I knew I didn’t just want a degree; I wanted preparation for [a career with] meaningful, long-term impact. This program delivers just that.”

The university’s location in New York City enables Tsai to take full advantage of learning in a global hub for major industries—this means having access to industry leaders via her instructors, and through exclusive networking events and premier informational panels on trending topics and events. “Living and learning here has helped me connect what we study in class to what’s happening in the field in real time,” says Tsai.

As president of the Public Relations League (PRL), the NYU Public Relations Club, and the School’s chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America, Tsai leads with the knowledge that NYU SPS is a place where she and her peers can reap the benefits of everything New York City has to offer—a program where rigor, relevance and real world experiences await.

“This program rewards curiosity, initiative and collaboration,” says Tsai, encouraging prospective students to, “get involved early, join PRL, connect with faculty, and say yes to opportunities.”
