<p><span class="p-body">Zarifa Nazirli, PhD, is an Associate Professor in the Department of New and Modern History of Europe and America at the Faculty of History, Baku State University, Azerbaijan. She earned her Ph.D. in History from Istanbul University and is currently pursuing a second Ph.D. at Baku State University, where her research focuses on U.S. nuclear strategy and its impact on international politics and global security.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Nazirli teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in American Studies, American History, American Foreign Policy, the American Political System, and International Relations. Her research interests include U.S. foreign and security policy, nuclear strategy and deterrence, international security, arms control, and the history of international relations.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, including Web of Science and ERIH Plus indexed publications, and has presented her research at numerous international conferences in the United States, Europe, and Türkiye. Her recent work examines nuclear regulation under international law, conflict zones and fragile states, and the role of the United States in global security governance. Most recently, she presented her paper, “Nuclear Regulation Under Strain: Challenges in Conflict Zones and Fragile States,” at the International Conference, which was hosted by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) at its headquarters in Vienna, Austria.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">As a 2026 Fulbright Faculty Development Program Fellow at New York University’s Center for Global Affairs, Dr. Nazirli aims to advance her research on international security while promoting academic collaboration between the United States and Azerbaijan.
