Led by global risk and geoeconomics expert Professor Chloe Demrovsky, this March 2027 GFI takes students to Panama to analyze how a critical maritime power navigates international trade, security, and finance. Participants will conduct field research on Panama’s dollarized economy, its strategic partnership with the United States, and its foundational position within global supply chains. You will evaluate urgent contemporary risks—including climate-driven environmental threats to canal operations and emerging geopolitical pressures—to understand how global systems link and delink in the 21st century. Tailored for graduate students aiming for high-level careers in international security, economic policy, and global risk management, this course transforms complex theoretical concepts into actionable, real-world expertise.
