Beyond Bollywood: Exploring India’s Film and Media Industry, Mumbai

This immersive course offers students an in-depth introduction to Mumbai’s film and media industry, widely regarded as the center of Bollywood. The course is offered in collaboration with Whistling Woods International, an institution specializing in film, communication, and the creative arts, located within Mumbai’s renowned Filmcity complex. Through lectures, workshops, and interactive sessions led by industry professionals, students will critically examine the Indian media and entertainment sector and gain insight into key aspects of filmmaking as well as emerging developments in the global media landscape. The course will have sessions focused on financing, marketing, distribution, social media, and audience engagement. Students will apply what they learn to the development and production of a short film.
