Hotel development is a complex, multi-faceted process. This course provides an overview of the critical steps from project conceptualization to grand opening. Because understanding market supply and demand is fundamental to effectively assessing the potential of any proposed existing property, this course introduces students to the principle elements of market analysis both conceptually and as applied to the New York City hotel market. Other strategic issues critical to evaluating new hotel projects such as branding, consolidation, management trends, etc. will be addressed.
