Real Estate Workouts

"Real Estate Workouts" refers to the resolution of troubled mortgage loans secured by commercial real estate properties. Students will utilize their existing knowledge and experience with basic real estate law and commercial real estate underwriting to learn how banks, life insurance companies, and CMBS third party loan servicers deal with commercial real estate loan defaults. The course also covers non-performing Mezz loans. Students learn about workout negotiations, receivership, the foreclosure process, loan modifications, and the sale of REO and distressed debt.
