Reading Homer's Odyssey: The Greatest Journey of Them All
After ten years at war and ten years lost at sea, Odysseus faces a profound identity crisis. Is he a "Nobody," or is he a warrior, king, husband, and father? This online interactive seminar invites you to reread, or experience for the first time, his personal journey. We will explore this Odyssey of love, adventure, and self-discovery as a powerful, early case of post-traumatic stress. In this supportive group setting, each session creates space for collaborative analysis. Together, we will examine how the cleverest of all Trojan War heroes reasserts his identity, first by reciting his own story, then by re-forging bonds with his son, subjects, and faithful wife.
