Language professionals can work as translators (written language), interpreters (spoken or signed language), cultural advisors, and many more specializations in law, medicine, literature, technology, government, and commercial fields. Today’s language professionals not only connect people across linguistic differences, they are also at the cutting edge of new technologies including artificial intelligence. They play a crucial role in providing language access to high-need communities and during international crises.
This week-long course will give you a fascinating view of the language industry landscape from both a local and a global perspective. You will gain an understanding of how translators and interpreters tailor content for different audiences and practice doing so yourself. Class exercises and activities will enable you to explore your own linguistic aptitudes and develop a plan for your future with languages, including credentials, certifications, and educational opportunities.
