NYU Alumni from across the University continuing their education at NYU SPS has been part of our history from the beginning. In addition to our vast Continuing Education offerings, the Alumni Audit Program allows NYU grads to audit one SPS graduate course or join a Global Field Intensive.
How to Join the Alumni Audit Program
Eligibility Criteria, Requirements and Rules
- Eligible alumni must be degree-holding graduates of an NYU graduate program and must be in good standing with the University.
- Alumni auditors must adhere to the SPS Non-Degree Student Conduct Policy.
- Alumni must apply and receive SPS approval before they can be registered for the course.
- Enrollment may be revoked at any time.
- Course audit offerings will be determined on a semester basis and announced before the term.
A Global Field Intensive (GFI) is a short-term, credit-bearing study abroad course that takes you straight to the heart of real-time global trends in business, politics, and society. - Auditors must attend class and keep up with the reading.
- No examinations or papers are required, no grade is assigned, and no credit is granted for course completion. Auditors are silent participants in class.
- Auditors may only enroll in one class per given term. Enrolling in more than one class may result in additional fees, and may be subject to being dropped without the student’s consent.
- Auditors cannot use audited classes toward degree requirements for an SPS program.
- Audited classes cannot be repeated for a grade. A course previously audited cannot be retaken for credit.
- Auditors may not enroll for credit in a class once they have begun auditing the course.
- Courses can only be audited in the modality in which they are offered.
- Course auditing prohibits/excludes participation in class discussions, group work, examinations, and culminating projects. Assignments may be completed but will not receive a letter grade. Assignments may not receive instructor feedback or review.
- Auditors are prohibited from recording or reproducing any elements of the course, partially or in full. The use of recording devices, streaming, sharing of course materials and distribution of class content is strictly prohibited.
- Internship, Independent Study, Thesis, Capstone, and SPS Real World courses cannot be audited.
- Auditors are prohibited from seeking faculty approval to audit excluded courses and if discovered, may be suspended from the auditing program.
- Tuition to audit a course will be $800 per credit. Most courses are 3 credits.
- Alumni will additionally be responsible for any course-related fees and expenses.
- Federal financial aid and scholarships are not applicable to audited courses.
- Tuition refunds will be processed in accordance with the University’s Refund Policy.
