Casey Man Kong Lum (Ph.D., NYU) is Adjunct Professor in the Division of Applied Undergraduate Studies at NYU’s School of Professional Studies. He has also taught in the Department of Teaching and Learning at NYU’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development.
An active contributor to the communication discipline, Casey is currently Associate Director of the Center for Intercultural Dialogue, a non-profit research venue that operates under the auspices of the Council of Communication Associations (Washington, DC, USA). He has also held leadership roles in various professional associations, such as Chair of the Division of International and Intercultural Communication at the National Communication Association, founding Vice President of the Media Ecology Association, and President of the Association for Chinese Communication Studies.
Casey holds the rank of Professor Emeritus at William Paterson University, where he was the Founding Director of the M.A. in Professional Communication Program.
A founding faculty member of Media Studies at NYU’s School of Professional Studies, Casey has published widely. His research intersects among media ecology, intercultural education and communication, urban foodways as intangible cultural heritage, urban communication, transnational communication in the diaspora, global media, the intellectual history of communication scholarship, etc. Casey has had extensive experience in intercultural consultancy and study abroad programs (e.g., intercultural communication and education; global food cultures; media and globalization).
