Alessandra Garber is a senior development leader and a seasoned strategist with more than 25 years of experience in fundraising for world-class institutions. As an Independent Fundraising Advisor, she provides results-driven counsel to non-profit organizations, empowering them to secure major gifts, design high-impact campaigns and initiatives, and forge strategic partnerships that propel their missions in new and powerful ways.
Alessandra has held senior leadership positions at prestigious institutions with national and global impact, including Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS), Columbia University Irving Medical Center, and The Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science at Columbia University. She possesses deep expertise in optimizing every phase of the individual donor lifecycle—from strategic priority development and prospect identification, to personalized cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship. As Assistant Vice President for Principal and Transformative Gifts at HSS, Alessandra spearheaded the hospital's engagement with its most significant benefactors, driving seven and eight-figure philanthropic investments and contributing to two successful capital campaigns.
Alessandra earned her BA from the College of Wooster and completed the Washington Semester Program in Public Policy at American University. She further honed her leadership skills as a selected participant in the Hopkins-Stanford Leadership in Action program - a year-long initiative of Stanford, Johns Hopkins, Duke, and Columbia University designed to provide intensive leadership development for top performing advancement professionals.
