Mark Yarish is an Adjunct Professor at New York University and LIM College in Manhattan, as well as a contract instructor for the City of New York’s Department of Citywide Administrative Services (DCAS). He is in the final stage of completing his doctorate in Sustainability with a concentration in Geo-Analytics at Capital Technical University. Mark holds a bachelor’s degree in Geography and Environmental Science from the University of Connecticut, a master’s in Management Information Systems from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a master’s in Teaching Science from Hunter College through the City University of New York Teaching Opportunity Scholarship Program.
Mark’s career bridges industry and academia: he began working with large data sets and computer algorithms at Gateway Computer Corporation, later advanced into the international investment banking sector, and ultimately transitioned into higher education and professional training. He has contributed to curriculum development in New York City. Currently, he teaches across a wide range of subjects, including Entrepreneurship, Information Technology, Spreadsheet Analytics, Data Analytics, Data Mining, Predictive Analytics, Statistics, Data Visualization, Programming in R and Python, Sustainability and Environmental Science, and Human Geography. His unique combination of academic expertise, industry background, and applied research in sustainability and geo-analytics enriches his teaching and equips students and professionals to excel in today’s data-driven, sustainability-focused environment.
