<p><span class="p-body">Yash Gupta, a Londoner with Indian roots, has always been passionate about sports. Whether watching, talking about, or playing, sports have shaped much of his life. His background, however, is only part of the story that led him to NYU SPS and the MS in Global Sport program.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">For Yash, the global exposure offered by the <a href="/content/sps-nyu/explore/degrees-and-programs/ms-in-global-sport.html" target="_blank">MS in Global Sport program</a> was a huge draw. Coming from a major city like London, he understood the value of being in a bustling urban setting. &quot;Being in a major city provides greater networking and work opportunities,&quot; he explains. As he researched the program further, he was impressed not only by the global opportunities but also by the real-world experience of the professors. &quot;The curriculum design covers all major areas of sports business,&quot; Yash shares, adding that this balance was key to his decision.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Yash's time as an NYU student has been exceptional: &quot;My experience has genuinely exceeded my expectations,&quot; he says. From gaining a deep understanding of the sports industry to developing new skills, Yash has cherished every moment. Building strong relationships with both his professors and classmates has been a highlight for him. &quot;I've made amazing friends and built great relationships with professors.&quot;</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Yash has also taken full advantage of NYU's hands-on learning opportunities. In the spring, he took a Real World class with the Brooklyn Nets, where he and his classmates tackled real business challenges faced by the organization. &quot;Working on a real problem gives you so much experience that you can leverage for further opportunities,&quot; Yash explains. On top of that, he was able to connect with several VPs at the Nets, which provided invaluable networking opportunities—and watching a game for free was an added bonus.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Another transformative experience was Yash's Global Field Intensive to Mumbai during spring break. Immersed in India's rapidly growing sports industry, he met influential figures from across the country's sports landscape, from women's football to Indian athletics. The highlight of the trip, however, was a visit to NBA India's office in Mumbai. &quot;Learning about the work they're doing was super impressive,&quot; he recalls, emphasizing how these global experiences have broadened his understanding of the sports world.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">Yash credits NYU SPS for giving him a solid foundation in the sports industry. The program's comprehensive approach has provided him with flexibility and adaptability, which are critical in an ever-evolving field.&nbsp;</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">With plenty of field experience under his belt, Yash is ready to take on new challenges in his career. Looking to the future, he hopes to secure a role in the cricket industry or an analytics-focused position. His time at NYU has equipped him with the knowledge and skills needed to stay ahead in the competitive world of sports, and he's eager to continue applying what he's learned.</span></p>

<p><span class="p-body">When it comes to seeking advice, Yash turns to Dr. Kelly, who has consistently helped guide him in the right direction throughout his time at NYU. Inspiration, however, comes from his parents and close friends. &quot;They have always supported me through my time at NYU,&quot; Yash says, crediting their encouragement for much of his success.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Yash's advice for new students at NYU SPS is this: &quot;Be on time, go through your emails properly because people always miss opportunities like this, and try to attend as many social events as possible.&quot; He believes that making the most of every opportunity is key to thriving in the program.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">As Yash continues his venture in the global sports industry, his time at NYU SPS has laid the groundwork for a future full of possibilities.
