This certificate is awarded to students who successfully complete the four required foundation courses and one elective within two years of taking the first certificate-eligible course.

This certificate will give you the education and background knowledge you need to further your career in property management. The courses introduce you to real estate investment concepts and property management principles for residential buildings. You will learn how to manage property safely and efficiently, while also gaining the knowledge necessary to market properties, negotiate and execute leases, and manage staff. Through the coursework you will obtain a comprehensive understanding of day-to-day operations of the property. The certificate will also give you the knowledge to know how to best position a property to maximize its investment return and profit, optimize tenant relations and retention, and maintain property and building systems and extend their economic life.
This certificate will give you the education and background needed to excel as a property manager. In order to become a certified property manager in New York, you must also have the Certified Property Manager (CPM) certification, your New York real estate broker license, and have experience in real estate or customer service.

It’s preferable if you do, but you can still declare candidacy even after taking a course. Declaring candidacy does not commit you to completing it, but you will receive a 10% discount on future NYU SPS continuing education courses.
Assuming the course is part of the certificate, yes, but only if the course was taken within an acceptable time frame. The academic department gives students a specific amount of time to complete a certificate. The start date would be adjusted to the first class to which we applied the discount.
Yes, if a student declares candidacy for a certificate and achieves an average overall grade of B or higher in courses counting toward the certificate, they will be awarded a certificate badge upon completion, which will be shareable on their resume and LinkedIn profile.
No, continuing education courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid.
Most continuing education programs do not count as credit toward a degree.
