Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality Hosts 30th Annual Stephen W. Brener Lecture Featuring MGM Resorts CEO & President William Hornbuckle

<p><span class="p-body"><b>New York, September 12, 2024</b> <b>– –</b> On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the <b><a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/jonathan-m-tisch-center-of-hospitality.html">NYU School of Professional Studies</a> <a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/jonathan-m-tisch-center-of-hospitality.html">Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality</a></b> will host its 30th Annual Stephen W. Brener Distinguished Lecture Series in Hospitality Management, featuring <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bill-hornbuckle/" target="_blank"><b>William (Bill) J. Hornbuckle</b></a>, CEO and president of MGM Resorts International.</span></p>
<p><span class="p-body">Jonathan Tisch, executive chairman of Loews Hotels & Co. and co-chairman of the board of Loews Corporation, will lead a conversation with Hornbuckle about his leadership and management of the iconic MGM Resorts global entertainment brand. MGM Resorts’ portfolio includes some of the most recognizable resort brands in the industry, including the Bellagio, MGM Grand, ARIA, Mandalay Bay, and Borgata.</span></p>
<p><span class="p-body">As CEO, Hornbuckle oversees all aspects of MGM Resorts’ strategy, operations, and hospitality and gaming development projects. He leads the company’s global development efforts and its digital gaming strategy. He also successfully steered the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, overcoming numerous challenges, including the closure of operations, tightly restricted re-openings, and new health and safety measures. Hornbuckle led the strategy and execution of the company’s sale of MGM Growth Properties to Vici Properties and the acquisition of the remaining share of CityCenter and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.</span></p>

The NYU School of Professional Studies Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality established the Stephen W. Brener Distinguished Lecturer Series in 1994. Instituted in response to Brener’s desire to provide a forum for industry leaders and students to meet and communicate, the Series focuses on the changes in the social, political, and financial environments that affect the hospitality and tourism industry.</span></p>

Before he died in 1994, he was president of InterBank/Brener Brokerage Services, Inc., specializing in management consulting for the hotel industry. Previously, he headed Stephen W. Brener Associates, which provided various consulting services from purchasing to selling properties. Among his many accomplishments, he founded the annual NYU International Hospitality Industry Investment Conference and established the first hospitality courses offered at the NYU School of Professional Studies.</span></p>
