<p><i>This article was originally published on September 12, 2024</i></p> <p><span class="p-body"><i>Hornbuckle Talks about His Leadership of MGM Resorts’ Portfolio of Iconic Hospitality Brands with Jonathan Tisch, Executive Chairman of Loews Hotels &amp; Co. and Co-Chairman of the Board of Loews Corporation</i></span></p> <p><span class="p-body"><b>New York, September 12, &nbsp;2024</b> <b>–&nbsp;–</b>&nbsp;On Wednesday, September 18, 2024, the&nbsp;<b><a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/jonathan-m-tisch-center-of-hospitality.html">NYU School of Professional Studies</a>&nbsp;<a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/jonathan-m-tisch-center-of-hospitality.html">Jonathan M. Tisch Center of Hospitality</a></b>&nbsp;will host its&nbsp;30th Annual Stephen W. Brener Distinguished Lecture Series in Hospitality Management,&nbsp;featuring&nbsp;<a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/bill-hornbuckle/" target="_blank"><b>William (Bill) J. Hornbuckle</b></a>, CEO and president of MGM Resorts International.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Jonathan Tisch, executive chairman of Loews Hotels &amp; Co. and co-chairman of the board of Loews Corporation, will lead a conversation with Hornbuckle about his leadership and management of the iconic MGM Resorts global entertainment brand. MGM Resorts’ portfolio includes some of the most recognizable resort brands in the industry, including the Bellagio, MGM Grand, ARIA, Mandalay Bay, and Borgata.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">As CEO, Hornbuckle oversees all aspects of MGM Resorts’ strategy, operations, and hospitality and gaming development projects. He leads the company’s global development efforts and its digital gaming strategy. He also successfully steered the company through the COVID-19 pandemic, overcoming numerous challenges, including the closure of operations, tightly restricted re-openings, and new health and safety measures. Hornbuckle led the strategy and execution of the company’s sale of MGM Growth Properties to Vici Properties and the acquisition of the remaining share of CityCenter and The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Register to attend the&nbsp;30th Annual Stephen W. Instituted in response to Brener’s desire to provide a forum for industry leaders and students to meet and communicate, the Series focuses on the changes in the social, political, and financial environments that affect the hospitality and tourism industry.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Previous prominent speakers and panelists have included: Anthony “Tony” Capuano, CEO of Marriott International; Mark Hoplamazian, president and CEO of Hyatt; Christopher Nassetta, president and chief executive officer, Hilton; Ian Schrager, founder and chairman of Ian Schrager Company; David Marriott, chief operations officer – Eastern Region, The Americas, Marriott International; Frits van Paasschen, author, former CEO of Starwood Hotels and Resorts; Danny Meyer, chief executive officer of Union Square Hospitality Group and the founder of Shake Shack; Glyn F. Aeppel, founder, president and chief executive officer, Glencove Capital; Brooke Denihan Barrett, chief executive officer, Denihan Hospitality; Anne R. Lloyd-Jones, senior managing director of the New York office, HVS; Karen E. Rubin, managing director, Karen Rubin Hotels; Jason Pomeranc, co-founder, SIXTY Hotels; and Jonathan M. Tisch, chairman and CEO of Loews Hotels &amp; Co. and co-chairman of the Board of Loews Corporation.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Considered a pioneer in the hospitality industry, Stephen W. Brener was a leading New York-based expert, consultant, and broker in hotel and motel real estate. Before he died in 1994, he was president of InterBank/Brener Brokerage Services, Inc., specializing in management consulting for the hotel industry. Previously, he headed Stephen W. Brener Associates, which provided various consulting services from purchasing to selling properties.
