This certificate will give you the education and background knowledge you need to further your career in property management. The courses introduce you to the world of real estate from the operations perspective, giving you the skills to manage commercial office buildings on a day-to-day basis. You will learn how to best position properties to maximize investment return and profit while also obtaining basic skills needed to read and administer leases and maintain building systems to maximize their economic life.
This certificate will give you the education and background needed to excel as a property manager. In order to become a certified property manager in New York, you must also have the Certified Property Manager (CPM) certification, your New York real estate broker license, and have experience in real estate or customer service.
While there is some overlap, this certificate focuses on commercial property management. If you are interested in residential property management, you can explore our certificate in Residential Property Management.
These courses are an introduction to the world of real estate from the operations perspective. You do not need to have a background in property management or real estate to register!

It’s preferable if you do, but you can still declare candidacy even after taking a course. Declaring candidacy does not commit you to completing it, but you will receive a 10% discount on future NYU SPS continuing education courses.
Assuming the course is part of the certificate, yes, but only if the course was taken within an acceptable time frame. The academic department gives students a specific amount of time to complete a certificate. The start date would be adjusted to the first class to which we applied the discount.
Yes, if a student declares candidacy for a certificate and achieves an average overall grade of B or higher in courses counting toward the certificate, they will be awarded a certificate badge upon completion, which will be shareable on their resume and LinkedIn profile.
No, continuing education courses and certificates do not qualify for financial aid.
Most continuing education programs do not count as credit toward a degree.
