In an era of digital publishing, the pathway to success in the book, magazine, and digital media industries is constantly changing. Today, members of the publishing community must learn new ways of doing business in a challenging, evolving industry. The NYU School of Professional Studies Master of Science in Publishing: Digital and Print Media prepares you to achieve your goals in this exciting environment.
In addition to providing a comprehensive overview of the building blocks of the publishing industry, including content creation, marketing, advertising and promotion, finance, management, and law, we teach the digital skills necessary for success in the field. We draw upon the extraordinary talent and resources of New York City, the greatest publishing and media center in the world.
Our professors are leading experts in their areas of specialization. They share the latest digital content creation and distribution strategies employed by multi-faceted media companies that often have complex outlets and goals. Faculty members approach their courses as career preparation sessions. Class assignments are comprised of real-world tasks through which students address problems they will encounter on the job. The program also offers an ongoing speaker series and field visits that provide students with an inside look at publishing and afford them a wealth of networking opportunities. Internships also provide increased exposure to the industry.
Our goal is to prepare today’s professional for careers in a fast-paced and exciting profession. The process of creating books, magazines, and/or digital media, is not just a job, it’s a privilege.
