For this academic year, the NYU School of Professional Studies (NYU SPS) Schack Institute of Real Estate has reimagined how its Center for Sustainable Built Environment (CSBE) serves industry leaders and Schack students.

The Center, under the new leadership of Suhail Y. Tayeb, director and clinical assistant professor at the NYU SPS Schack Institute, is an academic hub dedicated to advancing data, design, and strategy for a more sustainable, resilient, and high-performing built environment. The Center’s renewed mission is to equip leaders and Schack students with tools, research, insights, industry connections, and approved learning experiences to align and lead environmental performance with strong financial and social outcomes.

“The next decade will decide what kind of built environment we leave behind. The new NYU Schack Center for Sustainable Built Environment is working where data, design, and strategy intersect, because that’s where real change begins,” said Tayeb.

“Whether we are redefining how building performance is measured, using AI to design smarter cities, preparing our students to lead the real estate industry, or developing financial models that make sustainability inevitable, everything we do is focused on turning theory into practice,” added Tayeb.
