Through three interactive course modules, professionals learn the skills needed to communicate, collaborate, be productive, and lead remote teams, while advancing their careers in distributed environments. The first two course modules are delivered synchronously online via Zoom, and the final course module — The Future of Remote Work & Career Growth — takes place in person at the NYU Tulsa campus.

Since Tulsa Remote's launch in 2018, thousands of remote workers have moved to the city. Tulsa has attracted more than 3,900 remote workers through Tulsa Remote, which provides financial incentives, workspace, and social infrastructure to support professional development and integration within the Tulsa community. More than 75 percent of participants have stayed in the city for at least a year after completing the Tulsa Remote program. The initiative has contributed more than $600 million to the city’s economy.

The new NYU SPS Remote Work Success Certificate program is open to both the Tulsa Remote community and professionals from across the country. All registered learners take part in the same modules and shared activities, including the final in-person days in Tulsa.

“The combination of NYU SPS’ career-focused continuing education programs and certificates with Tulsa’s remote-friendly culture will help people build real expertise and improve their marketable and hireable skills," said Anna Tavis, chair of the NYU SPS Division of Programs in Business Human Capital Management department. “The program is a great opportunity for participants to connect with and learn from professionals across industries, including Tulsa’s vibrant remote-work community.”

“Remote work, when practiced correctly, can bring people together, unearth better ideas, and democratize opportunity,” said Justin Harlan, managing director of Tulsa Remote. “Tulsa Remote’s collaboration with the NYU School of Professional Studies will build on all that we’ve learned from our growing community of remote workers to connect participants with the tools they need to advance in their careers and thrive in an economy that continues to be powered by remote and hybrid teams.”
