<p><span class="p-body">May 2, 2025</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Dear NYU SPS Community,<br> </span></p> <p><span class="p-body">As we near the end of the spring semester, I’m proud to congratulate the SPS community on your hard work throughout the 2024-25 academic year!</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">I recently attended the Academic Sports Awards Dinner where I was moved by the words of an upcoming Tisch Institute of Global Sport graduate <b>Dominique Drust</b> who reflected on her SPS experience. She remarked how our community creates a unique support system that transcends students, faculty, and staff, facilitating an environment of personal growth—a community that “truly champions its students.”</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Individual stories from students and grads like Dominique vividly illustrate our shared experience and strong sense of community. Together, these collective stories contribute to an SPS legacy rooted in an insatiable desire to learn and grow, while making an impact on our local communities and the world.</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">I’m excited to see our alumni, a foundation of this SPS legacy at the upcoming NYU SPS reunion. Class of 2025, don’t forget to sign up for our <a href="/content/sps-nyu/info/information-for-additional-groups/information-for-alumni/alumni-society.html"><b>Alumni Network</b></a>!</span></p> <p><span class="p-body">Ahead of graduation, I am pleased to give a shout out to our alumni and student speakers:</span></p> <ul class="p-list"> <li><span class="p-body">Star of the popular ABC police procedural Will Trent, <a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/news-and-ideas/articles/sps-news/2025/abc-star-and-nyu-alum-ramon-rodriguez-shares-motivating-words-with-undergrad-class-of-25.html"><b>Ramón Rodríguez</b></a> (Tisch Institute ‘03), will address the NYU SPS Undergraduate Class of 2025.&nbsp;</span></li> <li><span class="p-body">Chairman of the Board at Marriott International <a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/news-and-ideas/articles/sps-news/2025/david-marriott-delivers-keynote-speech-to-nyusp-2025-grads.html"><b>David S. Marriott</b></a> will deliver the keynote speech to 2025 grads at the NYU SPS Graduate Convocation.</span></li> <li><span class="p-body">Undergraduates will hear from <a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/news-and-ideas/articles/sps-news/2025/2025-nyusps-undergraduate-convocation-student-speaker-morgan-garrett-unites-sports-innovation-and-social-justice.html"><b>Morgan Garrett</b></a> (BS in Sports Management) who, driven by a desire for exploration and social impact, has been able to carve a unique path in sports, entertainment, and advocacy.</span></li> <li><span class="p-body"><a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/news-and-ideas/articles/sps-news/2025/2025-nyusps-graduate-convocation-speaker-maxine-mchunguzis-transformative-nyusps-experience.html"><b>Maxine Mchunguzi</b></a> (MS in Integrated Marketing and Communications), who credits NYU SPS for getting her out of her comfort zone and enhancing her expertise in her current role as the Paid Social Media Specialist at Power Digital Marketing, will speak at the Graduate Convocation.</span></li> <li><span class="p-body"><b><a href="https://www.nyu.edu/about/news-publications/news/2025/april/commencement-2025.html">Keia Clarke</a> </b>(Tisch Institute ‘06), chief executive officer of the New York Liberty, will be awarded a Doctor of Humane Letters degree, honoris causa at Yankee Stadium.</span></li> </ul> <p><span class="p-body">Throughout this month, let’s celebrate those who played an integral role in each of our SPS stories—our families, mentors, and peers. And of course, a huge thank you to our SPS faculty and staff who are the heart of our community.
