<p>Recently, the NYU School of Professional Studies Division of Programs in Business, Finance and Taxation department partnered with the <a href="https://www.financialplanningassociation.org/chapter/fpa-metro-new-york" target="_blank">Financial Planning Association of Metro New York</a> to host their second annual career day.</p> <p>The event began with a panel discussion on “A Day in the Life of a Financial Planner,” with Natalie Colley, Martisha Patterson, and Matthew Ricks, moderated by NYU's Dr. Colin Slabach. The three shared their unique perspectives and types of roles a financial planner can have. Ian Harvey of Regent Atlantic then led a session entitled “Acing Your Interview.” He gave a history of the financial planning profession and encouraged attendees to take the time to explore what they want in their career and to thoroughly research firms prior to their interview. Attendees were also given insight into the world of cryptocurrency and digital assets with Boomer Saraga from <a href="https://www.khelpfinancial.com/">Khelp Financial</a>.<br /> <br /> Throughout the day, students had the opportunity to network with representatives from leading industry firms including <a href="https://ceritypartners.com/" target="_blank">Cerity Partners</a>, <a href="https://douglasswinthrop.com/" target="_blank">Douglass Winthrop Advisors LLC</a>, <a href="https://www.joelisaacson.com/" target="_blank">Francis Financial, Inc.</a>, <a href="https://www.joelisaacson.com/" target="_blank">Joel Isaacson &amp; Co., LLC</a>, <a href="https://www.khelpfinancial.com/" target="_blank">Khelp Financial</a>, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/company/pathstone-family-office/" target="_blank">Pathstone</a>, <a href="https://www.ameripriseadvisors.com/team/pell-wealth-partners/" target="_blank">Pell Wealth Partners</a>, <a href="https://ria-cipw.com/regentatlantic/" target="_blank">Regent Atlantic Private Wealth</a>, <a href="https://www.thrivent.com/" target="_blank">Thrivent</a>, and <a href="https://www.wealthspire.com/" target="_blank">Wealthspire Advisors</a>.</p> <p>The <a href="/content/sps-nyu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/division-of-programs-in-business/finance-and-taxation.html" target="_blank">Department of Finance and Taxation</a> offers continuing education courses, 8 certificate programs in finance, and a 30-credit <a href="/content/sps-nyu/explore/degrees-and-programs/ms-in-financial-planning.html" target="_blank">MS in Financial Planning</a>. The graduate program can be completed in as little as one year of full-time study, and prepares students for financial planning jobs. The program offers two concentrations in Behavioral Finance and in Financial Analytics, which meet the needs of clients who are more tech-savvy than ever, and who are interested in ensuring their personal financial choices are both good for them and for society.</p>
