Global Village - 2021
Global Village is a vibrant evening when the SPS community shares the food, cultures, attire and arts of our many diverse backgrounds. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, many universities worldwide considered canceling eagerly awaited annual events like Global Village.
SPS, however, is carrying on with this beloved tradition and celebrating Global Village in a whole new virtual way. Join us! Visit the home (or adopted) countries of fellow students via personal visual tours, videos, and peeks into their homes for cooking demonstrations and dance performances. In the past, we have visited a variety of different countries and cultures. Be part of this unique international experience and gain a real understanding of how the SPS student body reaches across continents. For the last seven years, the joy and excitement of Global Village has infused the evening and generated the warmth and dynamism of a true SPS family and the sentiment that created the slogan #WeAreSPS!
This very popular school-wide event is sponsored by the School’s Student Councils and organized by the Events Committee, with assistance from the Community Service Committee, the Office of Student Life, and other school-wide clubs.
Share your culture with us!
The joy and excitement of Global Village infuses the evening and generates the warmth and dynamism of a true SPS family and the sentiment that created the slogan #WeAreSPS!
You can be a part of the event by representing your culture by sharing places of origin, ethnic dishes, dances, songs, cultural artifacts, and traditional attire.
Share a favorite recipe
You can make your very own personal imprint on the occasion by sharing a favorite recipe to be included in the NYU SPS Global Village Cookbook. This year, proceeds from its sales will benefit World Central Kitchens, a wonderful organization doing food-relief work around the world. Learn more at wck.org
