<p>On March 5, 2026, the NYU SPS <a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/about/academic-divisions-and-departments/division-of-programs-in-business.html">Division of Programs in Business</a>, <a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/homepage/academics/divisions-and-departments/division-of-programs-in-business/finance-law-taxation.html">Finance and Taxation</a> department hosted financial planning industry professionals for a panel discussion named "Inside Wealth Management: Career Paths, Skills, and Real-World Insights". The conversation was moderated by <a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/homepage/academics/faculty-directory/21208-toshiaki-mitsudome.html">Dr. Toshi Mitsudome</a>, Clinical Professor and Faculty Leader of Financial Planning for the <a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/homepage/academics/masters-degrees/ms-in-financial-planning.html?utm_source=googlesem&utm_medium=paidsearch&utm_campaign=SP23-FA23_GC_FLT_MSFNPL_prosp&utm_content=text_na_na_tri-state&utm_term=keywords&gclid=EAIaIQobChMIra_Nxoex_gIVUQlMCh1T-gb3EAAYASAAEgIMl_D_BwE">M.S. in Financial Planning</a> program.</p>
<p>Industry professionals <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/michael-fleming-cfa-9096033/">Michael Fleming, CFA</a>, Principal at Mercer, <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/sasha-bereznak-cfa-2a204121/">Sasha Bereznak, CFA</a>, Executive Director at JPMorgan Chase & Co., and <a href="https://www.linkedin.com/in/jaime-bocanumenth-cfa-79478089/">Jaime Bocanumenth, CFA</a> , iShares Market Leader at BlackRock shared insights from their careers in the field. The panel discussed emerging opportunities and impacts of advances in AI, which are enhancing productivity and operational efficiency while providing powerful tools for research and analysis. Using polls, audience members were able to engage and respond to questions asked by the panelists, including what they view wealth management to be and how they think AI will affect it.</p>
<p>“Wealth management is an exciting and rewarding field for those who want to apply both technical expertise and human skills to help individuals and families achieve their financial goals,” said Mitsudome.</p>
<p>The session closed as the panelists gave their perspectives on how students can explore various career paths in wealth management with an anticipated stable job market. When it comes to success in the field, the panelists said that it requires an understanding of behavioral finance, supported by data-driven evidence and insights.</p>
<p><i>The Department of Finance and Taxation offers continuing education courses and 6<a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/professional-pathways/certificates/finance.html"> certificate programs</a> in finance and a <a href="https://www.sps.nyu.edu/homepage/academics/masters-degrees/ms-in-financial-planning.html">30-credit MS degree in Financial Planning</a>. The graduate program can be completed in 3 full semesters of full-time study and prepares students for careers in financial planning. The program offers two concentrations in Behavioral Finance and in Financial Analytics.</i></p>
