LICENSING REQUIREMENTS
Salesperson’s License Requirements: Potential salespersons must complete the 75-hour New York Real Estate Salesperson’s Course/RESB1-CE9503 before applying for the New York State license. They also must be sponsored by a licensed broker and pass the state examination.
CONTINUING EDUCATION
New York State real estate licensees must complete 22.5 hours of approved real estate continuing education every two years prior to the date of license renewal. The 22.5 hours must include at least three hours of instruction pertaining to fair housing and/or discrimination in the sale or rental of real property or an interest in real property. “NYCEM” at the end of a course description indicates that it is an approved module for the number of hours indicated, and “FH” indicates that the course includes the three-hour fair housing requirement. For further information, call the New York State Division of Licensing Services at 518-474-4429 or visit the Division’s website, dos.ny.gov/licensing.
