Generative AI: In the Beginning - A Fireside Chat with Maxime and Marc

In this talk, Maxime Whaite, Director of Technology Strategy at Microsoft, and Marc Beckman, founder of DMA United and senior fellow at NYU SPS, will explore how generative AI can inspire and enhance innovative products and services across various domains. Generative AI is a branch of artificial intelligence that can create new content, such as images, text, music, or video, based on existing data and models. There are an incredible number of applications and potential benefits for different industries and sectors, and we are only beginning to discover the true breadth of the Generative AI ecosystem.

Maxime and Marc will also discuss what skills and competencies are needed to thrive in the AI era, and how to develop them. They will share their insights and experiences on how to leverage generative AI for personal and professional growth, as well as for social good. They will also address some of the challenges and risks that generative AI poses, such as ethical, legal, and social implications, and how to mitigate them.

The goal of this fireside chat is to inspire NYU students and their community to think creatively and critically about the possibilities and limitations of generative AI. Maxime will uncover the creative entrepreneurial opportunities of generative AI, looking at the possibilities of AI-focused products and services, and aims to empower the audience not only as users of generative AI but as builders, entrepreneurs, and creators.
