Jason R. Silva is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology and Criminal Justice at William Paterson University. He has a Ph.D. in Criminal Justice from John Jay College of Criminal Justice / Graduate Center, CUNY. Silva’s previous professional positions include Project Manager for the National Institute of Justice funded School Shooting Database, and Research Assistant for the Department of Homeland Security funded Extremist Crime Database. His research examines mass shootings, violence prevention, terrorism, and mass media.Recent publications have appeared in Justice Quarterly, Journal of Interpersonal Violence, Aggression and Violent Behavior, American Journal of Criminal Justice, Studies in Conflict and Terrorism, and International Review of Psychiatry. Silva currently teaches courses covering criminology theory, research methods, corrections, terrorism, and criminal justice policy and practice.
