Renzo Pomi is a human rights lawyer with over 30 years' experience in the field. He is currently Amnesty International Representative at the United Nations in New York. Prior to his work with Amnesty International, Renzo served in two UN peace operations -ONUSAL in El Salvador and MINUGUA in Guatemala- and as the Deputy-Secretary of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights in San Jose, Costa Rica. He also worked for the truth commission in Guatemala, as well as a diplomat with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uruguay, his native country. Renzo has a law degree from the University of the Republic in Montevideo, and a LL.M from Harvard Law School. He is currently teaching Human Rights Advocacy and Research at New York University.
