Barbara Inge Karsch is the owner of BIK Terminology, a terminology consultancy and training company. A terminologist for nearly 30 years, she has provided terminology development, training and consulting services to ASICS Apps, Bosch eBike, GitLab, Zoetis, and many others. Her experience includes in-house roles at Microsoft and J.D. Edwards.
Barbara earned a BA and an MA in translation and interpretation. Her Ph.D.-level research focused on the connection between ontology and terminology management. As adjunct associate professor at NYU, she combines her love for teaching with practical experience. In her role as U.S. delegate to ISO/TC 37, she has been leading the development of ISO 12616-2 Terminology workflow in large organizations and has contributed to the forthcoming technical report ISO 25896 Management of terminology resources—Artificial intelligence for terminology management. Barbara has dual German and U.S. citizenship.
