Ron Havner is chairman of the board for Public Storage and Shurgard Europe. He joined Public Storage in 1986, held a variety of senior management positions, and served as chief executive officer from 2002-2018. Public Storage is the largest self-storage company in the world with more than 3,000 facilities in 40 states and 7 Western European nations, over 6,000 employees, and nearly 2 million customers. Public Storage is a member of the S&P 500 and FT Global 500. Havner serves as an independent director for AvalonBay Communities, Easy Ice, and is the former chairman of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT).
