Schack Institute of Real Estate Students Joined Graduate Students From MIT and Harvard University for a Series of Intensive Academic Training, Industry Exchanges, and Networking Sessions

Dean Angie Kamath recently congratulated participating NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate students for successfully completing a series of highly productive MIT – NYU Collaboration academic sessions on April 21, 28, and 29. Graduate students from NYU SPS joined graduate students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and Harvard University for a series of intensive academic training, industry exchanges, and networking sessions. As part of this collaboration, on April 21 and 28, NYU students attended joint MIT – NYU class sessions taught by professors and industry professionals affiliated with the MIT academic, professional, and alumni networks.

An all-day joint academic workshop was conducted on April 29, during which students from NYU, MIT, and Harvard University came together in New York City for a full day of real-life learning, shared and collaborative classroom experience, and networking with the leaders in the field of real estate. Dean Kamath joined these sessions to witness, first-hand, the value of these collaborative inter-institutional learning options, which she has facilitated for NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate students. After a full day of in-depth technical learning sessions, participating students from MIT, NYU, and Harvard jointly celebrated and reinforced their newly formed professional bonds by spending an informal evening at McSorley’s Old Ale House. This gathering was sponsored by the alumni association of MIT.

Prof. Manish Srivastava, who coordinates the MIT – NYU Collaboration programs on behalf of NYU SPS, thanked Dean Kamath for her strong academic leadership in facilitating and expanding this collaboration, which uniquely offers Schack Institute of Real Estate students with the opportunity to engage shoulder to shoulder with their future professional colleagues from two of the most highly regarded university programs, their professors, and their industry networks.

As part of an expanded MIT – NYU – Columbia Collaboration, Columbia University students also will join NYU, MIT, and Harvard students and professors again in New York City for another day of intense academic sessions during the Fall 2022 semester. It is planned that during Spring 2023, NYU students will visit Cambridge, Massachusetts, which is home to both MIT and Harvard, to participate in another specially designed thematic all-day joint session with NYU on the MIT campus.

Participating NYU SPS students expressed their gratitude to Dean Kamath for her leadership, encouragement, and support for this unique inter-university collaboration in the arena of professional studies. They also thanked participating MIT faculty members for spending significant amounts of time to prepare and teach these joint sessions. NYU students described their experience of participating in the MIT – NYU Collaboration series of events as one of the richest, most memorable, valuable technical enrichments, and networking opportunities, they have experienced during their time at NYU.
