CREFC Center for Real Estate Finance

Application information for the annual CREFC Scholarship will be available in mid-February each year.

The Commercial Real Estate Finance Council (CREFC) provided a substantial endowment gift to the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate to create the CREFC Center for Real Estate Finance at the Schack Institute. The Center's creation was announced by CREFC at its January 2020 conference and serves as a hub for industry collaboration on research initiatives and novel programming for CREFC members. The Center's inaugural and current Academic Director is Dr. Timothy H. Savage, a Schack faculty member.

In addition to student scholarships, programming during the upcoming academic year includes an industry-leading certificate program for CREFC members, standalone courses responsive to current market conditions, and a research paper series with contributions from faculty and CREFC Industry Fellows. The Center’s inaugural research symposium is planned for Summer 2021.

“The Center will convene members of academia and industry in addressing issues of critical importance for the commercial real estate finance sector,” said Lisa Pendergast, CREFC’s Executive Director. “Educating and diversifying the next generation of commercial real estate finance professionals is an issue we take very seriously and we could not think of a better partnership than the NYU SPS Schack Institute of Real Estate.  We are confident that this program will make great strides in helping more women and underrepresented minorities enter the pipeline of students we are able to recruit to the commercial real estate finance sector.”
