Tisch Center Internship Spotlight: Chetna Agarwal, Domio
Where are you interning and what is your job title?
I am interning at a hospitality start-up company, Domio, where I am a customer experience specialist intern.
What projects have you been working on so far?
My projects include managing and enhancing Domio’s Guest Portal software, labelling customer reviews, market research, updating information about new Domio properties, and researching promising locations for prospective properties for Domio by gauging consumer sentiment.
What do you enjoy most about your internship so far?
What I enjoy most is researching new locations where Domio plans to open for its guests. This requires thinking from the guest’s point of view and keeping in mind their needs in terms of the purpose of their visit and the things they would like to do. From doing this, I learn a lot about different customer sentiments and behavior patterns.
Have there been any challenges in your internship so far and if so, how have you overcome them?
I haven’t faced any grave challenges so far. My supervisor always gives me time to improvise and correct my errors if I make any.
What do you hope to take away from your internship?
I hope to become more customer-centric in my endeavors because being a good host is what hospitality is all about. I also have learned a lot about working together in a team and researching new ideas, whether it is about a new location or coming to a solution for a customer complaint.
What are your future plans?
I hope to use my experience at Domio to deepen my understanding of my class material and to eventually implement all this knowledge in my own hospitality firm in the future.
