The NYUSPS Project Management Team attended the PMI Global Conference 2019 in Philadelphia, October 5-7. Dr. Negar Farakish, Professor Edward Kleinert, and Associate Director Maria Rivera, along with Skye Weis, MSPM student and President of the Project Management Student Network and Eliana Segura, Recruitment Administrator and MSPM student attended many valuable conference sessions and engaged with several prospective students and faculty at the NYU SPS booth in the exhibitors’ hall.
Jeff Furman, an adjunct faculty of the non-credit project management program at NYUSPS, and Julimar Batac, a non-credit alum, also visited the booth and answered visitors’ questions. Jeff Furman subsequently shared the conference highlights on his LinkedIn blog.
The conference coincided with the organization’s 50th anniversary and featured special keynote speakers such as Adam Grant and live Ted Talks from: Jess Kutch, Janet Stovall, Anna Pipera , Sandeep Jauhar, and `OluTimehin Adegbeye. Many of the conference sessions focused on innovative problem solving and leadership strategies, current industry trends, artificial intelligence, machine learning, virtual reality, and the future of project management profession including “Top Digital Technologies” and “Top Skills” to both meet the challenges and leverage the opportunities that digital transformation projects present. The top three PMI Project of the Year Award Finalists, Kaustuv Bagchi, Guy Dery, & Fernando Antonio Oliveira also discussed their large scale projects and the importance of “Daring to Dream.” The conference concluded with an overview of the 50 most influential projects of the last 50 years!
